Accessing the Story Command Center
How to Get There
- From Stories List: Click any story title in the Stories page
- Using Search: Press ⌘K (or Ctrl+/) and search for the story name
- Back Link: Use the back link at the top to navigate to the Stories list
Interface Layout
Fixed Header Section
Story Title Display:
- Large, prominent story title
- Back link to the Stories list
- Quick access to key story metadata
Status Badges:
- Story Status: Current status (Planned, Draft, In Progress, Complete)
- Story Type: Classification (Short Story, Novelette, Novella, Novel, Non Fiction)
- Word Count: Total word count with formatting
- Series: Clickable badges linking to associated series
- Genres: Genre tags
Action Buttons:
- Edit: Opens the story editing modal
- Actions Menu: Dropdown with additional options:
- Copy Link: Copy the story URL to clipboard
- Duplicate Story: Create a copy with "(Copy)" suffix
- Create Publication: Open a modal to create a new publication featuring this story
- Export Data: Download story data as JSON
- Delete Story: Remove the story (with confirmation — blocked when the story has publication appearances)
Tab Interface
1. Overview Tab
Purpose: Complete story information and publication history
Story Metadata:
- Status badge showing current status
- Story type (Short Story, Novella, Novel, etc.)
- Word count with formatted display
- Genre and tag badges
Current Status Section:
- For Submitted Stories: Days waiting, market name, submission date
- For Accepted Stories: Publication link, editing workflow status (editable inline by editors)
- For Published Stories: Number of appearances, first and latest publication dates
- For Other Statuses: Current status badge
Story Details:
- Type and word count
- Primary contributor with link to profile
- Completion date (if set)
- Genres and tags display
Synopsis & Notes:
- Story synopsis with rich text formatting preserved
- Internal notes for writing and editorial tracking
Publication History (when appearances feature is enabled):
- List of all publications where this story appears
- Links to each publication's detail page
- Role indicators (original vs reprint)
Linked Publications (for cross-workspace stories):
- Publications from other workspaces that link to this story
- Workspace name and link date
2. Submissions Tab (when enabled)
Purpose: Track submission history and status
Submission List:
- All submissions for this story
- Market/publication name
- Submission and response dates
- Status badges (submitted, accepted, rejected, etc.)
- Notes per submission
Empty State:
- Informative message when no submissions exist
- Guidance on how submissions are tracked

Tips
- Bookmark your work-in-progress stories for quick access
- Use keyboard search (⌘K on Mac, Ctrl+/ on Windows) to find stories quickly
- Click publication titles to jump to the Publication Command Center
- Use the Actions menu to duplicate a story or export its data
- Share the URL with collaborators so they can see the same view
