Product Tours

Guided walkthroughs that show you around your Inkwren workspace.

What Product Tours Are

Product tours walk you through the interface one step at a time. Each step highlights an element on the page with a popover showing a title, a short description, and a progress indicator. Click Next and Previous to move between steps, Done to finish, or close the popover (the X button or Esc) to skip the rest.

One tour is currently available: a welcome tour of the dashboard and the main sidebar sections.

note

Tours aren't shown while your email address is unverified, in read-only workspaces, or on a Footnote view-only account.

Your First Visit

After you finish onboarding and land on the dashboard for the first time, Inkwren offers a tour:

Welcome to Inkwren

Let's take a quick tour of your writing workspace — it'll only take a minute.

  • Yes, show me starts the tour immediately
  • No thanks dismisses the prompt

The wording adapts to your workspace — publisher workspaces see "publishing workspace" instead of "writing workspace."

The prompt appears only once. If you decline, you haven't lost anything: you can start the tour anytime from the sidebar or Account Settings.

What the Tour Covers

The welcome tour visits the main areas of your workspace: the dashboard, Publications, Stories, Tasks, Submissions, Projects, the Marketing section, and the Manage section. Publisher workspaces also get steps for the workspace switcher and Contracts.

Steps for features that aren't enabled in your workspace are skipped automatically, so the tour matches what you actually see. Switching to a different workspace mid-tour ends the tour.

Starting or Replaying a Tour

There are two ways to start a tour after your first visit:

From the sidebar

Click Tour at the bottom of the sidebar. A Product Tours popover lists the available tours — click Start next to the one you want.

From Account Settings

Open Account Settings and scroll to the Product Tours section. Each tour shows the date you completed or skipped it, with a Replay button (or Start if you haven't taken it yet). Replaying a tour keeps your original completion record.

Tips

  • Skip freely: Closing a tour partway through doesn't lose anything — you can restart it from the beginning whenever you like
  • Replay after enabling features: The tour skips features that are turned off, so if you enable something new in your workspace, replay the tour to see where it lives
  • Check your history in Account Settings: The sidebar popover just lists tours; the Product Tours section in Account Settings also shows when you completed or skipped each one
